Our customer was using expendable corrugated packaging to ship their finished products. There was inconsistent packaging, personnel injuries due to nailed and stapled wood, as well as damage and contamination of finished goods while in transit to dealerships. The dealers had loads of packaging to dispose of resulting in additional costs and headaches.
Our innovative thinking led packIQ to designing, creating and ultimately helping our customer patent a lightweight, disposable, yet recyclable steel container. We reduced our customer’s packaging line headcount by 50%, shortened their packaging line and created additional manufacturing space. This drastically reduced their loss time accidents. Due to ease of access to the finished goods because of the innovative packaging design, our customer was able to avoid a million dollar manufacturing shutdown due to non-conforming product.
While the new patented disposable container is considered expendable, we have identified an opportunity to retrieve and consolidate product, and reuse on a limited basis, with estimated savings of $10 million annually.
“We turned to packIQ when we faced a 100 percent change to the way we did business. packIQ had great ideas for steel packaging that would reduce costs, improve quality and minimize waste contributed to landfills. Both corporate and our dealers are very happy with the new packaging solution. They made us feel like there was no other customer.”
